Join the First Coast Wind Ensemble in celebration of Armed Forces Day with a special event at the Jacksonville Landing. This joint concert with Navy Band Southeast includes military and patriotic music and presentations that pay tribute to all military personnel who have served our country. The program will feature vignettes by the Jacksonville Historical Society’s Executive Director Emily Lisska, who will highlight the role of Jacksonville’s service personnel during World War II.

The music includes works of Gregorian Chant, Hildegard von Bingen, Antonio Lotti, Giovanni Battista Pergolessi, Franz Liszt, Gabriel Fauré, Craig Courtney and Katie Moran Bart. Clients of the Sulzbacher Center have contributed visual art on the theme of their journey though dark times to the light of hope. Between musical selections, each art work will be displayed and a narrator will read some reflections written by the artists about their journey as well as traditional Lenten selections. This concert will evoke the ancient practice of a spiritual journey.
A freewill offering will be requested and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Sulzbacher Center.

The UNF Brass Ensemble performs music for brass spanning the 17th through 21st centuries. This dynamic group of under-graduate music students performed in a master class at the Juilliard School in May of 2008, and has appeared locally at numerous churches and schools. The ensemble was featured in the Riverside Fine Arts Project Listen series and the Lake Eden Arts Festival in Ashville, NC in May 2008. The ensemble is conducted by Dr. Randy Tinnin.

The American Boychoir is regarded as the United States’ premier concert boys’ choir and continues to dazzle audiences with its unique blend of musical sophistication, effervescent spirit and ensemble virtuosity. Founded in 1937, boys in grades 4 though 8 come from across the globe to pursue a rigorous musical and academic curriculum at the American Boychoir School, now located in Princeton, New Jersey. Maintaining an active national and international touring schedule, the Boychoir has performed with every major American orchestra, including The Boston Symphony Orchestra, The New York Philharmonic and The Philadelphia Orchestra. The American Boychoir has made over 45 commercial recordings.

Violinist Tyrone Tidwell will narrate the life of Saint-Georges interspersed with several works by the 18th century composer and closing with the Chevalier's Symphony Concertante in E-flat for two violins and orchestra.
