You're in for a treat as Sean Gaskell, a seasoned musician who plays in festivals in the U.S., Gambia and Senegal, performs on the kora, an ancient 21-stringed harp from West Africa. NASA at 60

Celebrate the achievements of America’s space program through music. The concert will include video presentations of important NASA events set to music performed by the Wind Ensemble. The concert will open with Olympians, written expressly for the JU Wind Ensemble by composer Bill Boston, and will also feature the Concerto for Flute and Wind Ensemble by Thom Ritter George, with flutist Evan Brown. The guest speaker for the event will be Mr. George Haddad, an Aerospace Engineer at the NASA Kennedy Space Center.

One of our most beautiful liturgies, Evensong is a lovely, sung, evening service led by the choir in which we thank God for the day that has passed and ask for peace and protection during the night ahead. Join us as we celebrate Michael and all the angels in their great heavenly war against Satan and the forces of evil during this brief service and stay for a catered dinner immediately afterwards in Leatherbury Hall benefitting Angels for Allison. Among the winners of the 2013 American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music, pianist Joshua Ross made his Carnegie Hall debut in Weill Recital Hall in February 2014, with a repeat performance in June 2016. He holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Georgia, where he studied with Dr. Martha Thomas, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from The Florida State University, where he studied with Dr. Heidi Louise Williams. He also studied with Dr. James Nalley, performed and studied at the 2008 Schlern Music Festival, in Vols am Schlern, Italy, and has played in master classes for renowned pianists Angela Cheng, Natsuki Fukasawa, David Northington, and Richard Cionco, among others. Cliff Newton retired from the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra after 32 years as Principal Trumpet. Currently, in addition to teaching he performs as soloist with the Belle Fleur String Quartet, and the Palm Court Society Orchestra. He is co-founder and an active member and of the Ancient City Brass Band, as well as of The One Step Ahead of the Law Brass Band (Edelweiss Piraten), a polka/oompah ensemble.

Choral Evensong for Lent

One of our most beautiful liturgies, Evensong is a lovely, sung, evening service led by the choir in which we thank God for the day that has passed and ask for peace and protection during the night ahead. This fourth Sunday in Lent, called Laetare Sunday (meaning “rejoice”), is traditionally a “lighter” Sunday compared to the rest of the season, so please join us as we liven things up with a festive Choral Evensong and stay for dinner in Leatherbury Hall immediately afterwards ($5 suggested donation; proceeds benefiting St. Mary’s Mission). Music of Harwood, Reading, Luther, Wood, and Ley. A nursery is available during the service.

Founded in 2009, violinist Hirono Sugimoto Borter and cellist Philip Lawrence Borter have dedicated their performing careers to promoting music for violin, cello duo. As winners of the prestigious Eastman Concerto Competition, they have performed across three continents including performances in Kodak Hall at the Eastman Theater, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Universität der Künste in Berlin, and Minato Mirai Hall in Japan. In addition to performing rarely heard masterpieces and lesser-known works, emphasis is placed on the power and intimacy found only in the string duo.
