The First Coast Wind Ensemble and the Don Thompson Chorale present a holiday concert titled “A Classical Christmas.” This annual event has become a community holiday favorite.

Each group will perform popular seasonal music. The concert will end with two combined selections, “Three Noels” and “A Christmas Festival.”

St. Mark’s Concert Series: Lessons and Carols

Our morning Lessons and Carols Service is another wonderful tradition at St. Mark’s. Its general format goes back to 1918 at King’s College, Cambridge, where it has been sung on Christmas Eve ever since. It has been adapted around the world, including here at St. Mark’s, where it has been sung for decades. Join us for all the festive seasonal music led by the St. Mark’s Choir and Choristers.

This concert will have individual performances by the following:

* Handbell Ensemble from St. Paul's by the Sea Episcopal Church, under the direction of Jonathan Easter
* Southside Handbell Ensemble mostly from Lakewood UMC under the direction of Valerie Stephenson (a quartet)
* The Highland Ringers from Highland Presbyterian feature both a quartet ensemble, an eight person ensemble and a vocal solo under the direction of De An Winton.
* A solo/duet ringer from Community Presbyterian, Joy Litton.
* These groups will also feature piano, flute and voice.

Julianne McCarthy is a gradute of Jacksonville’s Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and is currently in her junior year at Johns Hopkins’ Peabody Institute of Music. She studies with soprano Ah Young Hong. David Diehl hails from Lancaster, Pennsylvania and studies at Peabody with world-famous bass baritone John Shirley-Quirk. The program’s repertoire will explore themes from Romeo and Juliet through art song, opera and musical theater.

Friday Musicale: LE CHEVALIER DE SAINT-GEORGES "The Black Mozart"

Violinist Tyrone Tidwell will narrate the life of Saint-Georges interspersed with several works by the 18th century composer and closing with the Chevalier's Symphony Concertante in E-flat for two violins and orchestra.
Additional musicians on the program will include Timothy Edwards, Max Huls, Swantje Biernacki, Angelo Goderre, Larry Rawdon, Jamar Woods, and soprano Gabrielle Williams.
The narration was prepared by JU Professor Emeritus of Humanities, Dr. Sharon Scholl.
