For the last community concert, the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra will again perform at Art Walk in Hemming Park, on the main stage under the direction Deanna Tham. This concert is free with no ticket required.

Cello Recital: Victor Minke Huls

Kick off the weekend with a cello recital in the beautiful sanctuary at Saint Paul’s By the Sea Episcopal in Jacksonville Beach. At the reception we’ll be doing some easy swing dancing and the ever-popular “Sasha” contra dance. Masterclasses, technique classes, and ensemble rehearsals will take place on Saturday, May 5, culminating with a performance at 5 pm. More details at www.acaciaartsacademy.com.

Eastertide Evensong

Evensong is a lovely series of prayers, readings from scripture, congregational hymns, and choral music that weave together to create a wonderful and worshipful musical service (about 30 minutes). This particular Evensong will feature festive music highlighting our ongoing celebration of the Easter season. Nursery available.

Music @ Main Intermezzo Concerts presents Cliff Newton, trumpet & Friends

Cliff Newton retired from the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra after 32 years as Principal Trumpet. Currently, in addition to teaching he performs as soloist with the Belle Fleur String Quartet, and the Palm Court Society Orchestra. He is co-founder and an active member and of the Ancient City Brass Band, as well as of The One Step Ahead of the Law Brass Band (Edelweiss Piraten), a polka/oompah ensemble.
Presented monthly (Sept.-June), Intermezzo concerts are free and open to the public, and reservations are not required. Free parking is available.

San Marco Chamber Music Society Season Finale!

This final concert of the season features music for strings, oboe, and flute. Music by Lars-Erik Larsson, Paul Wranitzky, W. A. Mozart, Franz Schubert, and Arthur Foote. With Les Roettges, flute; Eric Olson, oboe; Aurica Duca, violin; Clinton Dewing, violin and viola; Ellen Olson, viola; and, Nick Curry, cello. Join us at a lovely reception after the concert! The Washington Post hailed his ‘dazzling, evocative playing’ and ‘lyrical sensitivity’ and the New York Times his ‘passionate flair and sparkling clarity’. He embraces a wide spectrum of the piano repertoire and is equally at home as a soloist, chamber musician or with accompanying Lieder. He has had a regular duo partnership with Joshua Bell since 2010 and often performs with cellist Steven Isserlis.
