One of our most beautiful liturgies, Evensong is a lovely evening service led by the choir. We will thank God for the day that has passed and ask for peace and protection during the night ahead through choral music of Sumsion, Smith, Vulpius, Stainer, and Goss. A nursery is available during the brief service. Stay for a potluck in Leatherbury Hall immediately afterwards.

A New Jersey native, John studied bass at Berklee College of Music in Boston and currently performs on guitar and vocals, as well as bass, with various local bands. Affectionately known as, “Johnny the Claw,” he also teaches bass & guitar privately, is involved with numerous recording projects, and is a member of the worship band at Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church and former Music Director at Jacksonville Anglican Fellowship (The Ship). Enjoy his music while you eat your lunch at the Lounge @ 303 North in the Main Library on Wednesday, August 10 at noon.

The Big Orange Chorus will present a concert of patriotic music and Americana on Saturday, July 2 at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Joining him are his wife, Jacksonville Symphony violinist Glynda Newton, Dr. Bill Prince (winds), Bob Gauger (trombone), Bonita Sonsini Wyke (piano), Dennis Hunsicker (accordion) and Thomas P. "Pat" Brown (percussion). Their varied program ranges from concert selections by Hindemith, Hovhaness and Shostakovich to pieces inspired by Latin American dances by Milhaud and Piazzolla, further spiced with a little Louis Armstrong. Intermezzo Sunday Concert with the Vivace Trio
Members of the ever-popular ensemble are Gia Sastre (flute), Carolyn Snyder-Menke (soprano and flute) and Denise Wright (piano). The talented trio will present a varied program that includes music for solo piano, 1-2 flutes and piano, and songs in part with flute obbligato, variously by Saint-Saens, Ravel, Debussy, Gaubert, Delibes, Nielsen, and 21st-century composers Edward Lein and Ian Clarke.
