KAMILA SHAHTAKHTINSKI was born in Moscow, Russia. She graduated from Azerbaijan State Conservatory with bachelor and master’s degrees in teaching and performance. Toured as soloist, a member of the chamber group and accompanist to major cities of the former Soviet Union, as well as Italy and the U.S. She also performed concerti with the Azerbaijan State Symphony and Chamber Orchestras and recorded for Azerbaijan State Radio and Twenty-First Century Studios in Jacksonville, Florida.

Jacksonville Public Library is hosting a free program of music featuring Navy Band Southeast’s New Orleans-style Dixieland group, TGIF.
Boasting a long tradition of feel-good music throughout the Southeast, TGIF arose from performances at various Navy commands on Friday afternoons, in the “Thank Goodness It’s Friday” spirit. Now, every day is Friday! This high-energy, seven-piece ensemble promises a toe-tappin’, hand-clappin’ smile-fest that is sure to brighten your evening.
Tuesday Serenade concerts are presented in the Hicks Auditorium on the Conference Level of the Main Library. Concertgoers are encouraged to use the Main Street entrance, because the Laura Street entrance closes at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays.

The annual service is a collaboration between St. Andrews A.M.E. and St. Paul's by-the-Sea to commemorate the birth and celebrate the legacy of Dr. King.     Lakewood Concert Series: The Lopez Tabor Duo

    Alfonso Lopez, violinist, conductor, composer, and teacher, is one of the most versatile and prominent musicians of his generation in Venezuela. He is the concertmaster of the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra (OSV) which, as the national symphony, is the oldest and the principal orchestra of the country.
    Dr. Michelle Tabor is a scholar, researcher, professor and performer. Lopez and Tabor have performed in the U.S. and Venezuela since 2004. In Caracas, the duo has performed in prominent chamber music series and festivals such as Pro Musica de Camara, the Friedman Festival of Chamber Music, and the series Recital con la Sinfonica at the Asociacion Cultural Humboldt.

    A student of Edward Kilenyi, Thaddeus Sadlowski, Regina Shamvilli and Daniell Revenaugh, pianist Jost Van Dyke had to interrupt his concert career in the early 1990s, due to the onset of focal dystonia, a muscular condition that has hindered or ended the careers of many distinguished musicians. This performance marks not only the Jacksonville concert debut of Mr. Van Dyke, but his first public recital in nearly two decades.

    The local band Safari Soundlab and guests will present a benefit concert to support and raise awareness for both the Invisible Children (Kony2012) and Against Malaria Foundation charities. Though the concert is free, a donation for these charities will be taken at the conclusion of the concert. Also accepting donations of a non-perishable food items for Arlington Community Services.
