Intermezzo: Cliff Newton (trumpet) & Friends

Cliff Newton retired from the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra after 32 years as Principal Trumpet, and, together with his violinist wife Glynda Newton who retired from the Symphony in 2017, established Newton Musical in 1978. Returning to the Main Library’s Hicks Auditorium, they and their musical friends will amaze and delight with an astounding variety of tunes.

Lenten Evensong

Choral Evensong has long been an important part of our Anglican heritage. Like all forms of liturgical worship, Evensong has elements of drama and ritual that nourish our spiritual lives. You can expect a quiet, meditative service that is full of music. We will offer choral music by William Smith, William Byrd, Anton Bruckner, G.P. da Palestrina, Malcolm Boyle and Edward C. Bairstow. Please come early for the prelude music. The service itself starts at 5:00.
Following the service, we invite you to a reception and an art exhibit in Taliaferro Hall featuring works by Anna Miller. We hope you will consider including this service in your Lenten worship this year.

This evening’s concert will be dedicated in memory of Joseph Henson Markham. He passed away at age 85 on December 24, 2019.
